Class Descriptions

Classes may vary from year to year based on enrolment and dancer experience. The descriptions below provide a general overview of our classes and how our students develop as dancers.

  • Creative Movement

    Ages 3-5

Creative Movement offers a welcoming introduction to dance in a fun and positive classroom setting. Young dancers develop coordination, balance, listening skills, and the ability to follow direction, often as their first experience in a structured group. Classes are designed to build confidence while keeping things engaging and age-appropriate.

Dancers perform at the year-end recital and at senior homes throughout the year.

  • Beginner

    Ages 5-6

Beginner classes build on early skills while introducing basic technique and stage awareness. Instructors use ballet terminology alongside Ukrainian terms and teach students choreography and classic dance steps from various regions of Ukraine. Time is set aside for boys and girls to work on skills specific to their training.

Choreography is performed at the year-end recital and at senior homes throughout the year.

  • Junior

    Ages 6-9

Junior dancers continue developing technique through ballet exercises and a stronger focus on regional steps. Classes help dancers understand how their bodies work in dance while building musicality and confidence. Dancers learn choreography from various regions in Ukraine.

Performances take place at the year-end recital and at several events throughout the year.

  • Intermediate

    Age 9-12

Intermediate classes focus on strengthening technique and stage presence. Dancers continue training through ballet and folk exercises while learning more detailed choreography. Instruction also includes posture, injury awareness, and caring for dancer bodies. Boys and girls have time in class to focus on specific technical skills.

Dancers perform at the year-end recital and at multiple events throughout the year.

  • Senior

    Ages 12-17

Senior dancers refine technique and performance quality while taking on more challenging choreography. Classes encourage leadership, responsibility, and a strong understanding of regional styles. Attention is given to posture, physical care, and long-term dancer health, with dedicated time for men’s and ladies’ technique.

Senior dancers perform throughout the year and at the year-end recital. Many also prepare to audition for Fialka, the school’s performing ensemble.

  • Adults

    Ages 18+

Adult classes are designed for fun, fitness, and connection! Open to former dancers and those new to Ukrainian dance, classes provide a supportive space to stay active while learning regional choreography. Dancers of all ages are welcome, creating a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere.

Adult dancers perform at the year-end recital and at festivals throughout the year.
